China wins nine para archery golds at the Asian Para Games
China finished top of the para archery table at the Asian Para Games in Aichi-Nagoya with nine gold, four silver and six bronze medals, according to World Archery's report published on 24 October. The report does not carry the other nations' totals, and the full results sit on the event's results page.
The most dramatic final came in the men's compound. Ai Xinliang of China and Iran's Amirmohammad Barani finished level at 144-144, and Ai took gold in the shoot-off, 10 to 9. Another Chinese archer, Yicheng Zhang, took bronze by beating India's Toman Kumar.
In the women's compound, India's Sheetal Devi defended her title, beating Nur Syahidah Alim of Singapore 142-139 in the gold-medal match. Xueqing Xu of China won bronze. Devi and Kumar then combined to win the compound mixed team for India, 151-148 over Indonesia. India's run was cut short in the women's doubles, where Xu and Jing Zhao of China won 150-141 over Devi and Payal Nag.
The recurve and W1 events went largely China's way. Geonhwi Kwak of Korea won the men's recurve over China's Lixue Zhao, while Zihan Gao of China took the women's recurve over Mongolia's Selengee Demberel. In W1, Pan Li won the men's title in an all-Chinese final against defending champion Tianxin Zhang, and Mengkan Cen took the women's gold. India's Swati Chaudhary finished second in W1 women, with Korea's Ok Geum Kim third.
For compound archers, the numbers are the story: 142-139 and 151-148 are margins of a few points, and a 144-144 draw is a reminder of how little separates the top of the field at para level.
Peru's Campos Marzano wins first World Para Series gold
A week earlier, at the Hyundai World Archery Para Series stage in Santiago, Chile, Peru's Daniela Cecilia Campos Marzano won the women's recurve title. She beat top seed Ziva Lavrinc of Slovenia 7-1 in the final, World Archery reported. Campos Marzano qualified sixth of seven with 522 points, 56 behind Lavrinc's 578, but tied the first set 27-27 and then won three straight sets. It was Peru's first medal at a World Para Series event.
Other gold medallists in Santiago included Thiago Pinheiro da Silva (Brazil, recurve men), Kevin Polish (USA, compound men), Anastasia Dzhioeva (compound women), Jason Tabansky (USA, W1 men, 6-2 over top seed David Drahoninsky) and Sarka Pultar Musilova (Czechia, W1 women).
Asia Cup Leg II opens in Sulaymaniyah
The second leg of the Asia Cup, a World Ranking Tournament, began on Sunday 25 October in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq, with about 106 archers from 19 nations, World Archery said. The event was postponed from April amid geopolitical concerns. India, China and several other Asian nations are not entered, which gives Bangladesh and Kazakhstan, both winners at Leg I in Bangkok, a chance to add ranking points. Nicholas D'Amour of the USA is the top-ranked recurve man, at world number 12. Compound finals are on 28 October and recurve finals on 29 October.
Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games field confirmed
World Archery has confirmed the final list of 64 athletes for archery at the Youth Olympic Games in Dakar. It is a recurve-only programme, with 32 archers in each under-18 individual event and 50 of the 64 also taking part in the mixed team. It is the first Youth Olympic Games held in Africa, and 39 nations are represented. Algeria, Guinea and Tunisia send their first archers to a Youth Olympics, and Egypt's Ismail Ezzeldin, the under-18 men's African champion, and Türkiye's Dunya Yenihayat, the under-18 European champion, are among the named competitors.
What to watch
The Sulaymaniyah finals run on 28 and 29 October and will show whether Bangladesh and Kazakhstan can carry their Bangkok form into a thinner field. Live scores will be on the World Archery website, with no livestream. The inaugural Hyundai World Archery Para Series season ends in Dubai from 5 to 10 December, and the Dakar Youth Olympic archery programme follows the Asia Cup.
